John Richard McSparron

Petty Officer

HMS Prince of Wales

I know that my Uncle - Petty Officer John Richard McSparron went down with HMS Prince of Wales. My Father, his brother, says that he was told that John was last seen swimming in the water with a broken arm. Any information would be appreciated.

Please contact either myself or my Father:

Commonwealth War Graves Commission record:

Petty Officer
D/JX 141250
H.M.S. Prince of Wales, Royal Navy
who died on
Wednesday 10 December 1941 .
Cemetery: PLYMOUTH NAVAL MEMORIAL Devon, United Kingdom
Grave or Reference Panel Number: Panel 45, Column 2.

This CWGC record may have been misspelt, which probably requires notification. I assume Paul knows how to spell his own name. In which case our own record and indeed that of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, requires altering. (Apparently McSparrow is a common misspelling of the name McSparron).
