I am writing on behalf of my mother, now quite elderly. We are looking for anyone who my have any information or who may have known her brother, my uncle Charles Mock. He was a telegraphist on HMS Repulse. We know he was captured after the sinking, but subsequently escaped with a group of other allied P O W's. they managed to reach Sumatra and remained there for some time before being recaptured. Unfortunately Charlie was killed in U S air attack on the ship transporting him back to the mainland. If anyone has any recollections of Charles they would be willing to share please do. The
only japanese transport vessel known to be sunk on this day was the Haragiku Maru Belawan/Pakabame Sunk by Torpedo South of Balawan 26th June 1944 Total prisoners on board 720 Dead or Missing 177 survivors 543 Please contact Andy (webmaster) with any information.
