In Memory of the Lost Men of
HMS Prince of Wales
~Men Lost During
the Japanese Far Eastern Offensive 1942-1945~
One of the saddest and least mentioned
chapters in the history of HMS Prince of Wales is what happened AFTER the ship
sank: Although a great number of her survivors were sent back to the British
Isles, not everyone went along...for various reasons, a number were left behind.
Many of these eventually lost their lives fighting the Japanese, or worse, as prisoners of war.
The known
casualties are listed here.
We are extremely indebted to Don Kindell for
his help in compiling this listing. It would not have been possible without his
inputs.
We are also grateful to Jonathon Moffatt and the Commonwealth
Wargraves Commission for helping to fill-in background details.
